Serapelo (Boipelo) Mofolo

Instructional Designer  |  Learning & Development Strategist  |  Project Management Specialist

I create learning experiences with the potential to drive meaningful performance change — purposefully designed, evidence-informed, and aligned to real organisational goals. My work spans eLearning development (Articulate Storyline 360, Rise 360), instructor-led training, instructional video production (Adobe Premiere Pro, Descript), and visual storyboarding — all grounded in ADDIE, SAM, and Agile/SCRUM methodologies.

My 17+ years of experience includes formal education and enterprise environments. In education, I didn't just teach — I led curriculum planning, designed data-driven assessments, managed learner performance data, and ran multiple concurrent projects simultaneously, serving a stakeholder portfolio of over 1,400 individuals. That built the project management capability I later formalised through a Strategic Project Management Distinction at Rice University. I manage projects using Trello, Microsoft 365, and Google Workspace, and deliver via Brightspace LMS.

My BSc Honours in Psychology informs how I think about learner motivation, cognitive load, and behaviour change. A Human Resources Analytics certificate (UC Irvine, Distinction) adds a data literacy lens to L&D planning and evaluation. Certifications in Designing with AI (UCT) and Google AI Essentials keep my practice current — I actively use Claude, ChatGPT, Descript, NotebookLM, Canva AI, and Leonardo.AI throughout my design workflow.

I hold an MEd in Curriculum Studies (Cum Laude) and currently lecture postgraduate instructional design students at VEGA School. My practice is rooted in inclusive learning design, attention to user experience and accessibility, creative problem-solving, and a commitment to continuously updating and improving eLearning content based on learner feedback and industry trends.

Articulate Storyline 360 Narration & audio sync Closed captions · WCAG Custom navigation Knowledge check Downloadable resource

An interactive eLearning course built in Articulate Storyline 360 for learners entering the instructional design field, covering the foundational Who, What, When, and Why of ID practice. Integrates narration, video, imagery, and on-screen text with custom navigation, formative knowledge checks, closed captions, and a downloadable reference infographic. Designing a course about ID for ID learners demands particular craft: every decision is visible to a professionally literate audience.

Design note: The navigation tutorial explicitly shows learners how to activate closed captions — confirming accessibility was built in from the start, not added as an afterthought.

Human & Labour Rights in Seafood Retail Supply Chains — Rise 360 eLearning

Articulate Rise 360 Compliance & ethics Retail sector Non-specialist audience Self-paced

This self-paced Rise 360 course was developed from an industry brief with a clear organisational mandate: equip seafood retailers to identify and prioritise human and labour rights risks in their supply chains. The central design challenge was audience translation — turning complex ethical and regulatory frameworks into practical, decision-ready guidance for a non-specialist retail audience. The course positions retailers as active stewards of industry standards rather than passive compliance recipients.

Design note: The primary challenge was not the content — it was language and framing. Every structural and visual choice was made with a non-specialist audience in mind, ensuring the course informs without overwhelming.

Instructional Video Production — IDC
Adobe Premiere Pro · Descript · Video-Based Learning · Commissioned
Adobe Premiere Pro Descript Video-based learning IDC · Commissioned

An instructional video produced for The Instructional Design Company (IDC) using Adobe Premiere Pro — spanning the full production workflow from scripting and recording through editing, colour, audio treatment, and final delivery. Descript was used for transcript-driven editing and caption accuracy. Video-based learning demands a different design discipline than eLearning authoring: pacing, visual attention, narration rhythm, and on-screen text must work together in ways that require both instructional thinking and production craft.

Design note: Producing instructional video for a specialist ID organisation applies an especially high bar — the audience will evaluate both the content and the craft simultaneously.
